Punjab government to distribute 110,000 laptops among students

The Punjab government is distributing 1,10,000 laptops worth Rs 3 billion among talented students during the current fiscal year while around 300,000 laptops worth Rs 12 billion will be distributed during FY 2012-13 on merit.
This was stated by Minister for Education Punjab, Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, here on Thursday. The government was implementing a comprehensive programme for providing modern educational facilities to the children and distribution of laptops among the talented students was a revolutionary step toward achieving this goal, he added.
The minister said that the provincial government had organised distribution ceremonies at Rahim Yar Khan, Multan, D.G Khan, Muzzafargarh, Bahawalnagar, Sargodha and Chakwal laptop. The minister disclosed that laptops would be distributed in Lahore district according to a tentative schedule ie at Punjab University on 23rd March, King Edward Medical University Lahore on 24th March, LCWU Lahore on 26th March, M.A.O College, Science Dyal Singh College, Science College Wahdat Road, Gulberg College (B), Town Ship College (B), Civil Line College Lahore, BISE Lahore on 27th March, Government PG Islamia College (W) Cooper Raod, Fatima Jinnah College Chuna Mandi Lahore, Women College Gulbarg, PG College Wahdat Road, Women College Township Lahore, Queen Marry, Samanabad College (w), Islamia College Railway road, Home Economics College Gulberg Lahore on 28th March, University of Education on 29th March, Kinnard College on 30th March, Allama Iqbal Medical College on 31st March, Fatima Jinnah Medical College Lahore on 2nd April, GCU, Lahore on 3rd April, Services Institute of Medical Science, Lahore General Hospital, De-Montmorency College of Dentistry Lahore, University of Health Science on 4th April, University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore on 5th April and UET Lahore on 6th April.
