All Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA), Multan on Thursday organised a rally to protest the non-approval of timescale formula. The clerks also demanded implementation of recommendations of the pay and pension committee. They resolved that countrywide protests would be continued if the government failed to meet demands of the low paid employees.
A large number of clerks participated in the rally. Addressing the clerks on the occasion, the district president of the community Khalid Saeed Sanghera alleged that the government was using delaying tactics in giving an assent to timescale formula for the clerks. They said that service structure without timescale was not acceptable to them.
He regretted that they have very limited opportunities of promotion to higher scales in the service and added that they almost retired in the same scale in which they entered in the government job. The district president said that the government machinery was run by the clerks but their lives remained very miserable due to low income.
Sanghera claimed that the central and provincial leadership of their community had presented the charter of demands to the government but the government has kept a mum over their demands. He demanded of the government to establish clerks' foundation for the welfare of the community.
He demanded of the government to approve the timescale for the clerks without any further delay and also implement the recommendations of the pay and pension committee in letter and spirit. He resolved if the government failed to accept the genuine demands of the clerks' community then they would launch the countrywide protest against the government for the acceptance of their demands. The district president said that they would no more believe on the hollow promises of the government and they would be satisfied only when the government takes practical steps for the welfare of the low paid employees.
