ANP wants military action in Karachi

Awami National Party (ANP) Tuesday demanded the government to take military action against extortionists, target-killers and other elements who are involved in crimes in Karachi to maintain law and order situation.
Addressing joint session of the Parliament, ANP leader Shahi Syed said, "if the Army could launch military operation in Swat, Bunair and other areas of the country, why it is hesitating to take any step in this regard in Karachi to control law and order situation and target killing".
Once again, he demanded that military action should be taken against extortionists, target-killers and other dangerous elements, which have made the city a hell for the common man. The ANP leader said that the situation of law and order has become so disgraceful in Karachi that innocent people are being killed. "Everybody was talking of chaotic condition in Karachi but no serious action was being taken for restoration of peace and stability in the city. He said that looters and plunders have exploited all the mercantile activities of the city for their vested interests while nobody was bothering about it seriously.
Criticising rulers' cold-heartedness, he said that they come in the parliament here, take tea, share ideas with their party men and discuss national issues just as lip service. It is evident that rulers have nothing to do with the issues faced by the people who were being killed for nothing, he said.
