Sindh Government has constituted an inquiry committee to probe the matter of torching 42 vehicles and killing of eight people in reaction of the murder of MQM activist and his brother on March 27. This was stated by Sindh Home Minister Manzoor Wasan while briefing Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah over the riots and tension gripped Karachi on March 27.
A meeting in this regard was held at Chief Minister House under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister, which was attended among others by Home Minister Manzoor Hussein Wasan, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Syed Sohail Akber Shah, IG Sindh Police Syed Mushtaq Shah, Deputy Director General Rangers Brigadier Rafik, Additional IG Karachi Akhtar Gorchani, Additional IG Special Branch, DIGs of East, West and South and officers of IB and other law enforcement agencies.
Manzoor Wasan informed the meeting that 42-vehicles were torched and eight people were killed in the daylong violence. An inquiry committee headed by Session Judge (South) Karachi has been constituted which will submit its findings regarding the violence and killings.
He asked Rangers and Police to be vigilant in near future so as to take prompt action against criminals and extortionists. IG Sindh Police informed that out of eight causalities, five persons were killed in violence, while the three others were killed due to other reasons. Other officers also presented their reports in the meeting. Qaim Ali Shah said that the matter and incidents should be investigated thoroughly, adding that was the responsibility of law enforcement agencies to take prompt action against violators and anti-state elements.
