'Churches of Pakistan' to launch today

Churches of Pakistan - a photographic exhibition and pictorial book by Dr Safdar Ali Shah and Syed Javaid Kazi will be launched on Thursday. The Asian Study Group in collaboration with Kuch Khaas, Center for Arts, Culture and Dialogue will organize the event of photography presentation that captures various glimpses of the historical and modern churches in different parts of the country.
The collection of photographs highlights Pakistan as a country with an ancient history and a rich cultural heritage. It has been a melting pot for many races and religions and the religious minorities and their distinctive places of worship add to the country's cultural diversity. The work by the two renowned photographers/ authors captures the history and splendour of churches across the country and highlights the role and contribution of the Christian community in Pakistan.
Dr Safdar Ali Shah and Syed Javaid Kazi through their book "Churches of Pakistan", portray the life of the Christian minority through the eye of camera. According to them, the spires and domes of the magnificent churches of Pakistan adorn the landscape of the country making an interesting blend with the rising minarets of the mosques on the skyline.
