For protecting the people from being defrauded and to safeguard their life-savings, Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Director General Ahad Khan Cheema has directed to formulate an on-line data base system regarding sale or allotment of plots by approved private housing schemes and to link it with LDA website, for information of the general public.
According to a LDA's spokesperson here on Thursday, DG while chairing a meeting to review the duties and responsibilities of Metropolitan Planning Wing of LDA, directed LDA Chief Metropolitan Planner Waseem Ahmad Khan for providing details of mortgaged plots as well as public utility sites in all the approved and unapproved private housing schemes, to the Revenue Department for necessary entries in the Revenue record, to stop illegal transaction of property and to protect the rights of LDA and private buyers.
The DG further directed for kicking off auction proceedings of plots, reserved for public utility buildings in the approved private housing schemes, so that provision of physical infrastructure and other basic facilities could be ensured to the residents of these localities.
He ordered to submit necessary draft amendments for imposing fine at the rate of Rs 10,000 per kanal, per annum, for total area of such scheme, which failed to complete development works within the stipulated time period. He also directed the Director Administration to immediately make functional the newly established directorate of private housing schemes, responsible for the completion of development works in such private housing schemes that had been taken over by LDA, as per directions of the Supreme Court of Pakistan for completion of remaining development works after sale of mortgaged plots. The Directorate would work under the supervision of CMP.
