McCoist urges caution over Rangers rescue

02 Apr, 2012

Rangers manager Ally McCoist says it is important that the right people take over the Glasgow giants after the club's administrators set a new deadline for potential purchasers. The Ibrox club entered administration in February due to a £9 million ($14.4m) tax bill and could face a further bill of up to £49m if the verdict of a tax tribunal goes against them.
Rangers' administrators, Duff and Phelps, have now asked three prospective buyers, thought to be The Blue Knights, a US group fronted by Club 9 Sports, and a consortium from the Far East, to submit their best and final offers by Wednesday.
The Ibrox club have already been docked 10 points by the SPL and will not play in Europe next season for the first time in 32 years after missing UEFA's deadline to exit administration.
But McCoist, in his first season in charge, says it is important the administrators take their time with the process so they find the right person to take the club forward.
