Al-Meezan Bank officers visit ISE

In order to have a briefing on the stock market operations and investment procedures, a group of officers from Al-Meezan Bank visited Islamabad Stock Exchange (ISE) here on Monday. The participants were briefed at length about the functioning of stock markets and procedure of investment in securities.
Dr Iftikhar Ahmad, ex-director ISE and CEO of Blackstone Equities (Pvt) Limited gave a comprehensive presentation on role and structure of the stock exchange, companies listing procedures, IPO process, trading through brokerage houses, role of SECP, CDC and NCCPL and risk management.
Replying to the various questions raised by the delegates, Dr Iftikhar Ahmad said that the investors should do necessary home work before investing and only authorised brokerage houses should be selected for trading. He explained about the working of an index and also apprised about KSE-Al-Meezan index.
Mian Ayyaz Afzal, Managing Director, ISE briefed the delegates on demutualization law recently passed by the Parliament and its affect on the stock exchanges. He also informed the participants about the investor education programme being launched throughout the country.-PR
