The Lahore High Court on Tuesday directed TMO Allama Iqbal Town to deseal Bio Amla factory at Multan Road which was sealed at the behest of Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan. The counsel of the TMO failed to justify the sealing of the factory, when court asked him as to why only one factory was sealed by the town administration.
The counsel said environment protection department was taking actions against other factories also functioning in residential areas. Petitioners' counsel Azhar Siddique told the court that two brothers Zakauddin Sheikh (petitioner) and Ziauddin Sheikh were the owners of the factory.
He said Zakauddin registered many criminal cases against the petitioner but all were proved fake in an investigation conducted by DIG Major Mubasharullah (Retd). He said the TMA sealed the factory at the behest of Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan despite the issuance of a stay order by a civil court in this regard. He said the TMA officials also kept petitioner and other employees of the factory detained for 26 hours.
