The Lahore High Court has directed convenor of Youth Development Programme of Chief Minister Punjab to investigate the distribution of laptops at Government College University allegedly on political grounds. The court disposed of the petition while asking the petitioner, a student of M.Phil (Urdu) of GCU Asghar Javed, to approach the convenor after seven days to resolve his grievance.
Asghar Javed through his counsel, Rana Ali Imran, submitted case that the laptops are being distributed to the political and personal liking basis. He said according to the merit, the students deserving for laptops should secure 60 per cent marks in annual exams and 70 per cent in semester system.
Asghar has cleared two semesters and have secured 81.27 per cent marks with 3.25 GPA. But he was ignored to be given the laptop while three other students of the GCU are being given laptops, who did not fulfil the criteria. He said that the three students including Saira and Saman are also working as lecturers at different educational institutions and also have GPA low than his. He said the CM's laptops schemes are being distributed on personal ground.
