Gypsy Fair to promote cultural activities

Advisor to Chief Minister Begum Zakiya Shahnawaz has said that the objective of holding 'Gypsy Fair' is to promote cultural activities. Talking to media at the Gypsy Fair arranged by Social Welfare Department, Children Library Complex here on Tuesday, Zakiya said that the purpose of Gypsy Fair is to bridge the gulf between gypsies and other segments of the society. Different tribes of gypsies participated in the fair and exhibited their products.
Folk artists from all over the country especially Cholistan and Thar also took part in the event. Begum Zakia Shahnawaz said that fairs and festivals are a part of the culture of the province and through these events not only various traditions are kept alive but the young generation is also apprised about them. She informed that 70 stalls including 40 by different institutions of Social Welfare Department have been set up at the fair.
