Power shortfall jumps to 6000 megawatts

04 Apr, 2012

Power shortfall has jumped to 6000MW with short supply of fuel to thermal units leading to load shedding after every hour in urban areas and straight outages in rural areas. However, the Pepco official maintained that power shortfall was not more than 4000MW.
It may be noted that independent reports are doubting figures being released by Pepco on daily basis. According to these reports, power shortfall has even crossed 6000MW but the Pepco officials were misstating the media on power situation. Heavy power outages amidst unprecedented rise in oil prices have put the common man into a miserable situation. Prices of daily usage items are registering upward trend, leaving many deprived of availing essential needs of life with every passing day.
Pepco sources said fuel supply to thermal units is quite dismal and inflows to hydel locations were not up to the mark. It may be noted President Zardari is likely to reach Lahore tomorrow to discuss ways and means to overcome power crisis with business community.
