Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) officials has said that air traffic controllers' (ATCs) demands are in the best interest of CAA and an incentive package for ATCs is the first thing on the agenda of CAA Board meeting to be held on April 9. They assured that the incentive package would be implemented as soon as the Board of Directors approves it.
Earlier, during a meeting between the ATCs and CAA officials including CAA Director General Nadeem Yousufzai and CAA Chief Financial Officer Dr Fazlullah Pechuho, ATCs were assured that as per the instructions from President Asif Ali Zardari and the Secretary Defence Nargis Sethi, radars would be upgraded on war-footing and latest communications system would be installed to avert any possible incident. ATCs had announced to go on strike from April 2, but later postponed it on assurance given by Secretary Defence that action would be taken to resolve their issues.
