The US Agency for International Development (USAID) on Tuesday donated IT equipment and supplies to Gems and Jewellery Center of Excellence (GJOCE), University of Engineering & Technology (UET) Peshawar established with its financial assistance of $1.1 million. The IT equipment was handed over to UET Vice Chancellor Engr. Imtiaz H Gilani by the Former Chief of Party, CHF International, Shehzad Mehmood in a ceremony held on Tuesday.
Shehzad Mehmood said CHF International with the financial assistance of USAID had provided IT equipment to CJOCE for additional support. He expressed the hope that the IT equipment and supplies would help CJOCE develop suitable education environment for its students. He said that the programme had already closed and its operation after formal handing over CJOCE to UET, Peshawar.
Mehmood said that USAID had always given importance to education through such initiatives in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Engr. Gilani expressed gratitude to USAID for providing additional IT equipment to CJOCE. He stressed the need for promoting people to people contact through academic linkages with the help of joint community programme.
