06 Apr, 2012

Pakistan Railways has issued a final notice to Business Express Train (private operators) warning that the agreement would be terminated if it failed to deposit the outstanding amount of Rs 8 million. Reliable sources told Business Recorder on Thursday that Pakistan Railways and the officials of Business Express will hold a crucial meeting at the railways headquarters on Friday (today) to discuss the matter.
Additional General Manager Traffic and Chief Marketing Officer of Pakistan Railways Syed Imtiaz Rizvi will represent the railways, while Chief Executive Officer of Business Express Zafar Iqbal Chaudhry and Chief Operating Officer Ejaz Ahmad will represent their organisation.
When contacted, Ejaz Ahmad said the railways was not obeying its commitment to provide locomotives and power plant wagons. He alleged that the department had provided faulty power wagons due to which it was difficult for them to meet the train schedule. Ejaz said they were suffering heavy financial losses because one of the power wagons was not functioning properly and water dispenser, LCD, CCTV cameras, DVR and other electronics gadgets were damaged due to frequent power fluctuation.
