Reko Diq case: Hamid Zahid nominated as arbitrator, Supreme Court told

The Supreme Court was informed on Tuesday that Balochistan government had nominated senior lawyer Hamid Zahid as arbitrator in Reko Diq case for which adjudication is pending before International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in London.
A three-judge bench led by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was hearing identical petitions filed by former head (Amir) of Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan chapter, Maulana Abdul Haq Baloch and others, who have made the Government of Balochistan and others as respondents.
During last hearing, the Supreme Court was informed that the Chamber had allowed a period of 15 days for the nomination of arbitrators in Reko Diq case. Ahmer Bilal Sufi, counsel for Balochistan government, told the bench that a senior advocate of the Supreme Court Hamid Zahid name was sent to the ICC as arbitrator in the matter. The bench observed that from May 8 hearing of the case would be held on daily basis. The hearing was adjourned till May 8.
