Senior Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab Senator Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa, who is in Iran along with a high level delegation, visited Mashhad and held meetings with Mahmoud Salahi, Governor General of Khorasan-e-Razavi and Mohammad Pazhman, Mayor of Mashhad.
Qazi Habib-ur-Rehman, Council General of Pakistan in Mashhad was also present. According to the hand out issued by DGPR on Wednesday both sides reviewed the progress made on the previous agreements and discussed the ways to expedite the pace of implementation on these agreements. Zulfiqar Khosa also signed "Mashhad Declaration" with Deputy Governor General of khorasan for increasing co-operation in the fields of agriculture, livestock and dairy development, urban transport and education.
Iran agreed to import 50, tonnes of meat from Punjab and now both sides will work out the modalities. Raza Ali Gilani, MPA, on behalf of the Chief Minister Punjab, invited Governor General of Khorasan to visit Lahore along with a team of experts on Metro Transport Service and Solid Waste Management for big cities of Punjab like Multan, Gujranwala and Okara.
The delegation also visited Mashhad Chambers of Commerce and Industry and held meeting with the business community. Sardar Zulfiqar Khosa urged the Iranian investors to take benefit of the huge opportunities in Punjab in dairy processing and energy sector. The members of the Chamber were also briefed about Iran Single Country Exhibition being organised by Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT) on 29th May 2012. The delegation visited the shrine of Imam Ali Raza (AS) to pay homage and prayed for prosperity of Pakistan.
It is worth mentioning that Sardar Zulfiqar Khosa is leading a high level delegation to Iran on the invitation of Governor Khorasan-e-Razavi and Governor Fars. The delegation includes Raza Ali Gilani, MPA, Mohsin Bukhari, representative of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and industry, Mushtaq Ahmad, Secretary Agriculture, Hamid Yaqub Sheikh, Secretary Livestock & Dairy Development. Professor Saleem Mazhar of Punjab University, Dr Junaid from University of Health Sciences and Habib Gilani, DG, PBIT.
