Police told to boost security in Red Zone

Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Wednesday directed the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to strengthen security in the federal capital and ban protests and other public gatherings inside the Red Zone. "Station House Officers (SHO) and Superintendents of Police (SP) will be held responsible if there is any protest demonstration or public gathering in the Red Zone," Malik said during a meeting, which was also attended by IGP Bani Amin and Chief Commissioner, Islamabad, Tariq Mehmood.
Malik directed the chief commissioner to submit a report regarding housing societies within two weeks. The chief commissioner was also told to submit a list of officials posted at a specific place for the past three years.
