Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah announced a three-member committee for the implementation of energy conservation steps. The committee comprising Minister Power and Information Shazia Marri, Special Assistant to Chief Minister Rashid Rabhani and Chairman Board of Investment Zubair Motiwala.
The committee will hold dialogue with the different stakeholders for implementation of energy conservation steps proposed at the recently held National Energy Conference in Lahore. The national conference, which was presided over by the Prime Minister, focused on various options to overcome the energy crises in the country.
Participants at the conference also supported energy conservation as a way to save energy to meet the existing shortfall and it was decided that the provinces would ensure implementation of energy conservation options.
Syed Qaim Ali Shah directed the committee to meet the stakeholders and muster their support for efficient implementation. The committee will meet the business community representatives including the small traders on April 13, at Chief Minister House to discuss the energy conservation steps. Chairperson of the committee Shazia Marri stressed upon the need to save energy and expressed hope in all stakeholders for understanding the gravity of the current energy crisis.
Shazia Marri said that the democratic government wants to take all stakeholders into confidence before taking any decision and there should be a sense of ownership in all decisions taken for the betterment of people.
