Taluka, UC-level staff asked to play role in polio drive

The Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad Agha Shahnawaz Babar has directed health officers to make Union Council Secretaries, Tapedars and other revenue staff to involve in polio eradication campaign and to ensure every child could be vaccinated. This he directed while presiding over a meeting of District Polio Eradication Committee at former Zila Nazim Secretariat on Thursday.
Addressing the meeting he said government was spending huge amount for polio eradication as 2.4 million rupees have been spending in each polio campaign round but it is irony of fate that polio cases were still surfacing in different places, which shows that some where flaws and negligence lies.
He said that the two polio cases in Hyderabad is alarming situation adding that no excuses would be accepted in this regard while action would be taken against those involved in any irregularity, he added.
He also directed for constitution of committees at Taluka and UC level for effective monitoring of polio eradication campaign and also directed the officers of HMC & Health Department to start anti-malaria fumigation in the district and said to the officials to provide chemical and other material to HMC & TMAs so that the fumigation could be carried. He also directed Municipal Administration to launch a campaign against stray dogs.
He urged upon the religious scholars to play their vital role in convincing people who refuse to get their children vaccinated.
While giving a briefing to the Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad Dr Altaf Khero informed that three days polio eradication campaign would be started from 23rd April and continued up to 25th April.
