14 Apr, 2012

The Lahore High Court on Friday summoned Ayesha Ahad Malik in her petition seeking directions for registration of a case against police torture allegedly at the behest of PML-N MNA Mian Hamza Shahbaz. The petitioner Ayesha, who claimed to be wife of Hamza Shahbaz, contended that on October 3, 2011 inspector Attique Dogar and In charge investigation police station Defence-A Zulifqar Cheema along with 20 other policemen thrashed her outside the sessions courts and snatched her precious belongings.
Later, they forcibly took her to Race Course police station. She alleged that former IGP Rana Maqbool and Ali Imran Yousaf son-in-law of Punjab Chief Minister visited the police station and threatened her of dire consequences. She said police again tortured her in the presence of both people. The sessions court had directed police to register a case against delinquent police officials but no case has been registered as yet.
