PML-N leader senator Pervaiz Rashid has said the people belonging to less-developed areas or those who could not continue their education can not only be made self-sufficient by providing them skills but also be made a useful member of the society.
He said this while addressing a certificate distribution ceremony among 130 trainee graduates of Punjab Skill Development Fund (PSDF) as a chief guest at Punjab Institute of Language, Art and Culture, here today. DESCON Chairman Abdul Razaq Dawood, PSDF Chief Executive Officer Ali Sarfraz and other prominent personalities were present on the occasion. Senator Pervaiz Rashid said PSDF, set up with the co-operation of UK's Department for International Development (DFID), was an important step of the Punjab government.
The basic objective of this Fund was to create maximum job opportunities and eliminate poverty in Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Lodhran and Muzaffargarh districts of Southern Punjab by providing technical training to the youth. Senator Pervaiz Rashid said that provision of training of most demanded skills to the people was top priority of the government so that after getting training they could put share in country's development through their active role.
While congratulating trainee graduates on completing their training course, he said they had to further polish their skill in practical life. He said that being poor or rich was not a shameful thing but being uneducated or unskilled was a matter of shame. He said "the basic reason of poverty in our country is being uneducated and ignorant; therefore, we will have to make determination of acquiring knowledge or skill."
