Apropos a news item carried by Business Recorder regarding KPT officers and employees donating Rs 4 million to the parents of Momina Saeed, I would like to compliment their efforts donating a such a hefty amount to the parents of a girl suffering severely from liver malfunction.
Such gesture, bestowed on humanitarian grounds need to be applauded at all levels as it reflects on one important aspect of us as a nation that we are still alive and that our hearts still feel the suffering of our brothers and sisters. It also signifies that as a nation, we surely are one.
Through your newspaper, I would like to convey my compliments to KPT. However, after so many years of independence (ie 60 plus years) we still have not been able to provide treatment and liver transplantation in Pakistan and have to resort to obtaining it from abroad. We have over the years produced so many doctors/specialists/surgeons and yet no doctor is available in Pakistan to perform liver transplant. It's high time that we seriously think about this.
