In pursuance of the Supreme Court's directives, a campaign has been launched in the city to retrieve the state-owned land allegedly encroached by grabbers, criminals and land mafia.
"We have in this regard managed to evacuate a belt of Pakistan Railways land spread over an area of 5-kms that stretched from Wazir Mansion to Gulbai," Commissioner of Karachi, Roshan Ali Shaikh told APP on Sunday.
The campaign was supervised by Deputy Commissioner, Gunhwar Ali Laghari and Assistant Commissioner (Harbour), Junaid Rajput.
"It was a joint effort of the city administration, area police and anti-encroachment cell that led to recovery of the 43,360 square feet land," he added.
