War against terror badly affected economy: Nawaz

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Mian Nawaz Sharif said on Monday that war against terrorism had caused devastating impact on the country's economy apart from taking lives of 36,000 army men and civilians. He said this while talking to the Ambassador of Italy, Vincenzo Prati, who called on him at his Raiwind residence, here.
During the meeting, views were exchanged on bilateral ties between the two countries apart from matters of mutual interest. Talking to Italian ambassador, the PML-N chief said that Pakistan respects sovereignty and independence of all the states and expects similar sentiments from others.
"We are striving for better law & order, economic development and progress and prosperity of our countrymen," he said, adding, "We are attaching priority to the interest of our country and wellbeing of our people." Sharif further said that they want better relations with all the countries of the world on the basis of equality and mutual respect.
The Ambassador of Italy, Vincenzo Prati said on the occasion that they wanted to see Pakistan a strong democratic and economically stable country. He said his country was promoting mutual trade between the two countries. He also lauded public welfare projects of the Punjab government.
