The security officials deputed in federal ministers' protocol team are not allowed to take action against any person (s) unless there is a life threat to the minister, informed sources revealed to his correspondent. The protocol team of Federal Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf violated rules and regulations when they reportedly abused a high-ranking government official when he refused to give them way on Sunday. It is relevant to note that Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has no portfolio yet though he is entitled to protocol.
"The security staff of VIPs are not authorised to threaten, abuse or manhandle any person during protocol duty and they can only take action when they feel a life threat to their boss", a senor police official said. He said that violation of law was an offence and any one person could register an FIR against the VIP protocol staff for threatening, abusing or manhandling him.
He further revealed that under the law only one security official was allowed per minister and deputing a large number of security officials was an open violation of law. The Islamabad police registered an FIR against the gunmen of Gigit-Baltistan's Governor when they manhandled lawyers in the limits of Margalla Police Station, he said.
The protocol staff of Raja Perviaz Ashraf abused Bakhtiar Mohammad, Joint Secretary Revenue Department, when he was driving for not letting them overtake his car. Bakhtiar Mohammad said the driver of the car threatened and abused him in the presence of his family in the presence of the minister.
