Kapco's profit increases to Rs 1.653 billion

The profit after tax of Kot Addu Power Company (Kapco) has increased to Rs 1.653 billion in the quarter ended March 31, 2012 as compared to Rs 1.403 billion earned in the corresponding quarter in 2011. The board of directors of the company in its meeting declared that the company's earning per share has increased to Rs 1.88 in the period under review against Rs 1.59 in the same period a year back.
According to the financial results sent to Karachi Stock Exchange, the company's sales increased to Rs 22.361 billion in this quarter against Rs 18.740 billion in the same quarter last year while the cost of sales increased to Rs 19.431 billion against Rs 16.352 billion.
The company's administrative expenses increased to Rs 97.622 million against Rs 92.852 million. The company's profit before taxation increased to Rs 2.378 billion in this quarter against Rs 2.161 billion in the same quarter last year. On nine month basis, the company's profit after tax declined to Rs 4.356 billion translating earning per share at Rs 4.95 in the nine month period ended March 31, 2012 as compared to after tax profit of Rs 5.253 billion with per share earning of Rs 5.97 in the same period a year back.
