Sherani takes charge as President: 55th AGM of FPCCI held

The 55th Annual General Body Meeting of the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) was held here at the Federation House on Tuesday. During the meeting, Haji Fazal Kadir Khan Sherani took charge as new President of the chamber. Sherani had secured 130 votes in the election for the post of President FPCCI for the term 2012, held on 29th December, 2011.
However, announcement of his election could not be made earlier due to restraining orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. Addressing the meeting, Sherani thanked all the members for reposing confidence in him and electing him as President of the chamber. He said that the country was passing through serious economic crisis and that he would strive hard for the development of trade and businesses.
He further said that any business council set up by the government without taking the FPCCI on board would not be accepted. Sherani reaffirmed his commitment to the cause of the business community and uplift of the economy saying that the chamber would be made a real service-oriented body and a role model for other trade bodies in the country.
It may be mentioned here that, Sherani is a prominent businessman of Balochistan. He had enjoyed the portfolio of President of Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Vice-Chairman, All Pakistan Contractors Association and Incharge FPCCI Regional Office Quetta.
