Vice-Principal of JPC among six killed

At least six persons including the Vice-Principal of Jinnah Polytechnic College (JPC), were killed in separate incidents of targeted killings in the city on Tuesday. According to SP Taveer Odho, Vice-Principal of JPC, Imran Zaidi, 52 was gunned down by two armed riders near Matric board office when he was on the way to home in his car on Tuesday evening.
Resultantly, Zaidi sustained bullet wounds and was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) where he succumbed to his injuries. Hospital sources said the victim received four bullets of 9mm pistol on his upper torso. Police said the victim, who was the resident of North Karachi, Sector 11-C, belonged to Shia sect.
Following the incident, tension griped Nazimabad, North Karachi, Numaish, Ancholi and other Shia majority areas. A man was shot dead while three others sustained injuries in a drive-by shooting near Capri Cinema in the limits of Preedy Police station on early Tuesday.
Police said some six to seven armed men, riding four bikes, started firing at people standing at a bus stop. Resultantly, 60-year-old, Raja Alauddin was killed while four others including Rubina, 50, Muhammad Lateef, 65, Akram Hussain, 25 and Sagheer, 26 sustained injuries.
Police said the victim was the resident of F B Area and was employed in private printing press. No case was registered till filing of this report. A bus driver lost his life when he offered resistance during a robbery bid in the limits of Zaman Town police station on early Tuesday.
Police said two alleged bandits, after forcibly boarding a bus, booked for a marriage ceremony, started looting valuables from people. Meanwhile, a bus driver Sher Muhammad, 35 alias Sheru offered resistance. Resultantly, he was shot dead. In another incident, a drug addict was shot dead while another was injured near Mujtaba Mosque, Korangi in the limits of Awami Colony police station. According to details, two armed men targeted Shaukat, 55 son of Ghulam Rasool and Imran 40 near Mujtaba Mosque. Shaukat succumbed to his injures during treatment in a hospital.
A man was gunned down at his shop located near Sohrab Goth in the limits of Sacchal police station. According to details, 55-year-old, Zarat Gul was targeted at his shop by two armed men. Resultantly he received two bullets and died on the spot. SHO Azhar Ali Iqbal said the victim was the resident of Gulshan Maymar and used to sell auto parts of heavy vehicles. He was the father of four and might have been murdered over personal dispute.
A 26-year-old young man was found dead on a rooftop of a building located in the limits of Eidgah police station. Police said the body of a young man, who was identified as Ismail, 26, was recovered from a rooftop of a dilapidated residential apartment 'Baba Farid Building'. The cause of his death could not be ascertained.
