Fresh spate of violence in city claims 14 lives

The fresh spate of violence in the city claimed some fourteen lives during last 24 hours while many others were injured, rescue officials and police sources said. In the wee hours of Wednesday, two tortured bodies were found near Karachi Medical and Dental College (KMDC) Chowrangi in the limits of Taimoria police station.
The area police said it appeared that the two were killed in some other area and the bodies were dumped near the dental college. Identity of the deceased could not be ascertained. The bodies were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities. Later, police moved the bodies to Edhi Morgue for want of identification. A man, Zarak Gul, was killed outside KMC View Apartment in the limits of Sachal Police Station.
In another incident, two men were killed when unidentified armed men opened indiscriminate fire on people sitting at Quetta Bolan Hotel in North Nazimabad Block M in the limits of Tamoria police station.
Resultantly, a hotel waiter Sanobar Khan, 25 and a customer Latif, 22, received fatal wounds and were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Sanobar Khan succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital while Latif died during treatment. A man was shot dead by unidentified assailants when he was sitting at his shop in Liaquatabad No 8, police said.
The victim, Rehan, 28, son of Mukhtiar, was killed when unknown gunmen riding bike came there opened fire on him.
The victim was running sanitary hardware shop situated on the ground floor of his house, No 7/88. The deceased was stated to be an activist of MQM-H. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities. Another man was shot dead by unidentified attackers in Gass Mandi near KMC School Usmanabad in the limits of Garden Police Station.
The deceased was identified as Zohaib, 24, son Abdul Qadir. His body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for legal formalities. Police said Zohaib was the resident of Pholpati Lane.
Police also found a body from a house in New Karachi Sector-5 from the precinct of New Karachi police. The body was shifted to Abassi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.
The identity of the deceased could not be ascertained. A body stuffed in a gunny bag was found from Gosht Market of Azizabad in the limits of Azizabad police station The victim was identified as Amanullah, 40, son of Babo. The deceased was the resident of Chakiwara and stated to be a worker of Pakistan People's Party (PPP). In Gulistan-e-Jauhar, a man was shot dead in Block-16 near Quetta Baloch Hotel in the limits Gulistan-e-Johar police station
The victim was identified as Shafiullah, 35, son of Abdul Aleem. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for post-mortem. A man, Nadeem, 35, son of Abdul Hameed, was gunned down by unknown armed men in Sector L-1 Surjani Town in the limits of Surjani police station. A woman was killed and her husband was injured when they resisted a robbery bid in Ferozabad, PECHS block 3 late last night.
Police said the couple, Shahid Ali and his wife Ams-ur-Rahim Kulsoom, residents of Pak Avenue were sitting in their car No AWI-816 at Abu Tawwab road in the limits of Ferozabad police station when three bandits came in a Cultus car and tried to rob them on gun point.
However, they offered resistance, upon which the bandits opened fire on them, leaving them critically injured.
The woman succumbed to her injuries on the way to hospital.
The body was moved to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities. Police registered FIR number 213/2012 under section 397/34 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). In another incident, a woman was gunned down by her husband near Indus Plaza, Sohrab Goth in the limits of Sohrab Goth police station. Yasmin, 40, wife of Ajab Khan was shot dead by husband over domestic issue, police said. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities. A security guard was injured in Site area during a dacoity bid. In Nazimabad area, a police constable, Haris, was injured by one, Imran, son of Hasseb. Police managed to arrest the accused and registered a case against him.
The injured was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment. A man was shot dead in Bakra Peri area in the limits of Kalakot police station by unknown armed men. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi, where he was identified as Imam Buksh.
