WHO to support upcoming polio campaign in Punjab

World Health Organisation (WHO) is working with the Government of Punjab to support preparations for the three-day National Immunisation Campaign, being held in Punjab from April 23-25. WHO has joined hands with the Government of Punjab, in their campaign for polio control and WHO will continue providing technical assistance to the Government of Punjab regarding Polio eradication, said Focal Person Polio Eradication WHO.
In this campaign, over 38,000 vaccination teams will move house to house to vaccinate 18 million children in Punjab. This campaign will be monitored by district health authorities and international partners. In this regard, Polio Eradication Committees met at the Union Council and District level to review the campaign preparations and special emphasis was given on implementing National Emergency Action Plan (NEAP) to make this campaign effective and successful.
This will be followed by Short Interval Additional Dose (SIAD) activity in the first week of May in the high risk districts of Punjab in which 2.5 million children will be vaccinated in different tehsils / UCs of respective districts.
