'Merit upholding essential for development'

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that upholding of merit is essential for development and prosperity of the country. He said that merit has been promoted in the province and all appointments have been made purely on merit. He said that party workers are our precious asset and they should work sincerely for transforming the country in accordance with the ideals of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal.
The Chief Minister disclosed that a development package would soon be announced for district Bahawalnagar. He asked the Assembly members to submit their proposals and schemes in this regard. He was addressing Assembly members and Muslim League office-bearers belonging to district Bahawalnagar in Chishtian, on Thursday.
The Chief Minister said that the Muslim League-N considers the service to the masses as a kind of worship and all out resources are being utilised for their welfare. He said that laptops have been distributed among brilliant and talented students in the province on merit which will inculcate spirit of research among the male and female students.
He said that 72000 teachers have been recruited on merit and noone can criticise these recruitments. While issuing orders for investigation of complaints with regard to recruitment of teachers in district Bahawalnagar, the Chief Minister directed the Education Minister to submit a report in this regard at the earliest. He directed the office-bearers of the PML-N to play their active role for strengthening the party. He also directed the elected representatives to utilise all their energies with regard to resolution of problems of the people.
