Plea to make Urdu official language filed

A petition for making Urdu as official language of the country has been filed before the Lahore High Court (LHC). The petitioner, a Bar member, Rana Ilamudin Ghazi stated that father of the nation Quaid-e-Azam during his address to students in Dhaka had announced to make Urdu as official language of Pakistan.
The petitioner said majority of the country could only read and write Urdu. But so far the English was made the official language of the country. He said the subsequent governments were under obligation to fulfil the desire of the Quaid but nothing was done.
