21 Apr, 2012

Punjab Agriculture and Meat Company (PAMCO) arranged a capacity building workshop for veterinary officers to update them about the latest trends in the livestock sector. Around 20 officers from different districts of the province participated in this workshop which was arranged under 'save the calf' and 'animal fattening' programmes already launched by the company.
Training Co-ordinator Dr Naeem Kunwar said the purpose of holding this workshop is aimed at capacity building of veterinary officers to enable them help livestock farmers. He said veterinary officers from Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur and Gujranwala districts participated in this workshop.
The participants said that such events not only benefit those working in the field but participants also learn from each others' experiences and serve livestock farmers in a better way. They said such courses also help increase meat production in the province.
It may be mentioned here that 'save the calf' and 'animal fattening' programmes of PAMCO are not only aimed at increasing meat and milk production of the province but also to ensure exports of meat and its value-added products to earn precious foreign exchange for the country.
