D G Khan, Multan: CEC directs foolproof arrangements for transparent by-polls

Acting Chief Election Commissioner Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan on Sunday directed to ensure fool proof arrangements for holding smooth, peaceful and transparent bye-elections in Dera Ghazi Khan and Multan.
Chief Election Commissioner visited Dera Ghazi Khan to review the arrangements in connection with bye-election in the constituencies of PP-243 D. G. Khan-IV and PP-245 D. G. Khan-VI. The elections are schedule to held on April 26.
He visited some polling stations of PP-243 D. G. Khan-IV and held meeting with the contesting candidates of both the constituencies with a view to hear their concerns about the arrangements regarding bye-election.
After hearing their concerns, the CEC assured that all their genuine concerns will be addressed in accordance with law. The representative of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) also gave a presentation about the launching training programme, according to which they will impart training to the polling staff before the date of poll for the said bye-elections.
Chief Election Commissioner also presided over a high level meeting with the district administration in the committee room of the Commissioner's office.
The officers of the other concerned departments including Regional Police Officer were also present in the meeting.
The District Returning Officer, District Co-ordination Officer and District Police Officer, Dera Ghazi Khan gave detailed presentation regarding arrangements for bye-elections, including contingency plan for deployment of security personnel at the polling station and general maintenance of law and order in the area of constituencies.
The Commissioner and Regional Police Officer, D. G. Khan assured the chair that all-out efforts will be made to ensure the successful conduct of bye-elections in the said constituencies.
