23 Apr, 2012

The Punjab government will buy 3.5 million tons of wheat and necessary arrangements have been finalised, provincial Minister for Food Khwaja Muhammad Manshaullah Butt said on Sunday. Talking to Business Recorder at the Sialkot Press Club, he said that gunny bags would be distributed among wheat growers on April 25 across Punjab, adding that special committees at tehsil level had been constituted for supervising the process.
Manshaullah Butt said that recent rains in various parts of the province had delayed the wheat purchase campaign.
Under the Punjab Chief Minister directives, steps had been taken for making payment to small growers at purchase centres, besides ensuring hassle-free environment at wheat purchase centres.
The food minister said that no slackness would be tolerated in this regard.
