Annual performance of Railway Police improving: IGP

Syed Ibne Hussain, Inspector General Police (IGP), Railways has said that the annual performance of Pakistan Railways Police (PRP) is better than the previous year. While addressing a press conference here on Monday along with DIG Munir Ahmad Chishti, he claimed that 2,466 cases were registered, out of which 2,314 had been challaned, 92 percent recovery had been made in Railway material theft cases, in which Bogie theft case was also included.
Railway Police traced the bogie in two days and sent the accused to jail, in which a Major of Pak Army was also involved, he added. He said 16 proclaimed offenders and 178 court absconders were arrested, while 386 illegal vendors were arrested and more than 0.2 million fine was recovered from them. He further claimed that 67,605 ticketless travellers were detected by PRP and fine amounting to Rs 2, 24, 37,333 was recovered from them. On the directives of Supreme Court, a campaign against land grabbers was continued, in which 398 acres precious Railway land worth billions was retrieved.
