Hockey trials for Junior Asia Cup today

Trials to select an 18-member Pakistan hockey squad for the 7th Junior Asia Cup will be held at Hockey Club of Pakistan Stadium here on Tuesday 4.00 pm. Selection committee headed by Hanif Khan, Khalid Bashir and Arshad Chaudhry will watch the boys in action by conducting two to three sessions, a spokesman of Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) announced on Monday.
A pool of 25 players attending the training camp will be appearing in the trials. Junior Asia Cup is schedule to be held at Malacca (Malaysia) from May 3-13. Except for India, who as hosts have qualified automatically for next year's Junior World Cup, the other seven teams will be vying for the two berths allocated by the International Hockey Federation (FIH). Hosts Malaysia, South Korea, Japan and Iran are drawn in Group "A" while arch-rivals India and Pakistan with China and Sri Lanka are placed in Group "B".
