Activity at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 318,540 tonnes of cargo comprising1 249,054 tonnes of import cargo and 69,486 tonnes of export cargo including 3,568 loaded & empty containers during last 48 hours ended at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 249,054 tonnes comprised of 102,861 tonnes of containerised cargo; 13,174 tonnes of general cargo; 11,907 tonnes of bulk cargo: 4,004 tonnes of coal; 2,367 tonnes of palm kernel; 5,536 tonnes of rock phosphate and 121,112 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 69,486 tonnes comprised of 55,007 tonnes of containerised cargo; 142 tonnes of general cargo; 14,337 tonnes of bulk cargo: 5,493 tonnes of cement and 8,844 tonnes of loose bulk cement. A total number of 3,568 containers include 2,446 import and 1,122 export containers were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The brake up of imported containers shows 1,018 of 20's and 704 of 40's of loaded while nil of 20's and 10 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 267 of 20's and 253 of 40's loaded containers while and 83 of 20's 133 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
Twelve ships namely Kota Anggerik, UASC Shuwaikh, OOCL Dalian, APL Guangzhou, CSL Ride, Maistros, Lodestar Genesis, Maria Princess, Kang Hong, Tan Binh-22, Equator Harmony and UBC Cyprus carrying five container ships, three oil tankers, two general cargo ships, one coal carrier and one bulk cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Six vessels viz UASC Shuwaikh, Hyundai General, MOL Wind, Maria Princess, MT Quetta and Kang Hong with three container ships, two oil tankers and one general cargo ship respectively are currently at the berths. A container ship namely Hyundai General sailed out to sea on Monday, while three ships namely MOL Wind, MT Quetta and Abdullatif-S with one container ship, one oil tanker and one cement carrier respectively are expected to sail on Tuesday. A container vessels viz Bruno Schulte due to arrive on Monday, while four vessels viz Shoko Maru, Sydney, Asian Beauty and Renea with one ethanol ship, one container ship, one bus carrier and one coal carrier respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 49,092 tonnes includes 23,813 tonnes of furnace oil; 7,805 tonnes of palm oil; 391 tonnes of seeds; 857 tonnes of chemicals and 16,226 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo includes 14,364 tonnes of containerised cargo.
A containers ship namely CV Maersk Montana sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while another ship namely MT Fair Chem Yuka with cement is expected to sail out to sea on the same day afternoon. A total number of six vessels namely CV Maersk Montana, MV Mercy Wisdom, MV Elicia, MT Fair Chem Yuka, MT Bunga Angsana and MT Four Island with containers, wheat, cement, chemicals, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during last 24 hours.
As many as five ships namely Bux Hill, Safmarine Ngami, Argent Freesia, Hawk and Argent Iris with containers, phosphoric acid, steel coil and palm oil respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. A total number of four vessels viz CV Bux Hill, CV Safmarine Ngami, CV ER Canberra and MT Hawk with containers and steel coil respectively are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Multi Purpose Terminal respectively on Monday.
Three container ships namely CV MSC Jenny, CV Sealand Michigan and CV CMA CGM Bellini due to arrive on Tuesday, while an oil tanker namely MT Lahore is expected to arrive at Port Qasim on Wednesday. As many as three vessels viz CV Al-Moof, MV Marry Ann Hudson and MT Hasandi carrying containers, rice and chemicals are also expected to arrive at Port Qasim.
