Spain mulled cutting Argentina soya imports

Spain considered restricting Argentine Soyabean meal imports last week to retaliate against the South American country's seizure of Spanish-owned energy company YPF, a source familiar with the matter said on Monday. Instead, Spain introduced a measure on Friday to support its languishing biodiesel industry which could curtail imports of the plant-based fuel.
"They seriously considered hitting Soyabean meal imports but technical difficulties and, I reckon, lobbying by many of us to explain the negative consequences for feed and livestock farming put the idea to rest," a food processing industry source said.
