ISLAMABAD: Renowned artist award winning puppeteer and columnist Farooq Qaiser Thursday inaugurated “Uncle Sargam Diorama” here at Heritage Museum of Lok Virsa.
Executive Director Lok Virsa Dr. Fouzia Saeed and a large number of children attended the colorful inauguration ceremony of the Diorama.
Uncle Sargam is a most famous puppet character of Pakistan, that first appeared in the children show "Kaliyan" aired by Pakistan Television in 1976.
It soon became a household name in the country for portraying political, social and more difficult issues, with humor and a tinge of sarcasm.
The diorama serves as a tribute to both the character of Uncle Sargam and Farooq Qaiser who, apart from creating the character of Uncle Sargam, has also trained many new artists during his illustrious career and has hence become an institute unto himself.
The diorama is upgraded keeping in view the precedence set by other three dimensional dioramas at the Heritage Museum.
The inauguration of "Uncle Sargam Diorama" was an interactive event, especially interesting for children and families who got a chance to experience the the quirky humor of Uncle Sargam, Maasi Museebtay and the rest of their group, as the group recreated some of their finest moments in live skits which was performed on stage at Museum Hall.
