Concluding the suo motu notice regarding the rape and murder of Zainab, Supreme Court (SC) ruled on Saturday that the verdict of the case should be decided within seven days as per the decision of Lahore High Court.
According to local media reports, the SC expressed its satisfaction to the investigation team of the police and also reviewed the report that had been submitted by Punjab Inspector General Arif Nawaz.
The court was also informed that the police have presented charge-sheet against the accused, Imran Ali. On Friday, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) sent Imran on 14-day judicial remand following submission of challan (challan-sheet) by the prosecution in Zainab murder case. The court also ordered the trial of Imran to be held in Kot Lakhpat jail, Lahore.

On January 24, Imran was sent on a 16-day physical remand by ATC . During the investigation Imran had confessed to luring girls with sweets and money.
The police had also found information of Imran being involved in eight other incidents that took place in Kasur over the past several months. Imran had also confessed to his involvement in the rape and murder of other rape incidents.
