15 May, 2012

A gang of robbers on Monday looted around Rs 6.4 million from a private bank branch located in the jurisdiction of Saeedabad police station. According to police and eye-witnesses, some five unidentified armed dacoits barged into the private bank branch located in Naval Colony at around 2:30pm and held the staff and customers hostages at gunpoint.
They said the robbers initially snatched weapons from the security guards and then started looting valuables from staff and customers. Later, they robbed around Rs 6.4 million from cash counter. The eyewitnesses said the robbers seemed well trained as they ran away with a bag full of Rs 6.4 million and other valuables within just seven minutes.
Meanwhile, DSP Abdul Haq Bhutto claimed that although the looters managed to flee before police arrival, they got CCTV footages that would help the police department to nab the culprits. To a question, he said it was premature to say anything about the incident but the involvement of local criminal or militants with the connivance of staff or security guards could not be ruled out in this robbery.
