The first five-day certification training programme on mediation is being organised in the metropolis. The organisers said here on Monday that this is being held under the auspices of the Women Development Department, Government of Sindh, in collaboration with the Karachi Centre for Dispute Resolution (KCDR).
They said that this has been arranged in connection with the project `Mediation for women in all divisional headquarters in Sindh through Institutionalised Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR)'. As many as 20 nominees mostly lawyers from different districts of Sindh were exclusively invited to attend the training sessions. The inaugural ceremony of the training programme was also attended by former Justice Saiduzzaman Siddiqui, former Chief Justice of Pakistan, President of Karachi Centre for Dispute Resolution, Director Justice Zafar Ahmed Khan Sherwani and Ms Mussarat Deputy Director Women Development Department.
The programme, arranged by the Women Development Department Government of Sindh, will enable the successful mediators to mediate cases of poor women pending in their respective districts of Sindh including the complaints lodged by lady complainants against domestic violence.
