Punjab Labour Minister, Haji Ehsan Uddin Qureshi has said that Punjab Workers Welfare Board (PWWB) has established 49 workers welfare schools throughout the Punjab and Matric Tech Programme has already been introduced in nine schools besides pointing out proposed establishment of vocational training institutes in six districts.
He expressed these views while talking to the participants of meeting regarding establishment of technical schools here on Saturday. Secretary Labour Hassan Iqbal, DG Labour and high ranking officials of PWWB and Tevta were also present on the occasion.
The Minister said that for matric passed students, the programmes of computer applications, accounting, secretarial services and autocad has been identified, whereas, for middle level students, electrician, plumber, repair of home appliances and welder courses has been proposed. The government has taken many decisions for the upgradation of socio-economic status of the labourers and various educational and health schemes have been launched for the children of the labourers and other family members, he concluded.
