Karachi Transport Action Committee has urged the government to ensure security and safety of buses, with their passengers, plying on inter-city routes. President of the Committee, Mohammad Ashraf Banglori along with other office bearers in a joint statement on Sunday took strong exception to the unfortunate incident during which a bus was fired upon killing the driver as well as passengers.
They demanded immediate establishment of police check-posts on the national highway as well as superhighway supplemented with a fool-proof communication mechanism so that assistance and relief when needed could be provided immediately. The transporters said the vehicles on the highways also needed protection of their commuters against robbers.
