At least three persons including an activist of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) fell prey to targeted killings in different areas of the metropolis here on Sunday.
According to police, a bullet-riddled body was found from Memon Society, Lyari near Kalri police station. The victim, who was later identified as Shahid, 28, son of Zikariya, was the resident of Nippier area.
SHO Kalri said the victim was kidnapped from Lea Market on Saturday when he reached Kharadar to meet his friend. Later, police found his body from Memon Society. He said the body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for medico legal formalities where doctors said the victim, who received single bullet on his head, had several torture marks.
SPO Mithadar Zafar Ali Shah said the victim was an active worker of MQM, Unit 29 Lyari Sector and he used to run a decoration shop in Nippier area.
Kharadar police registered an FIR No 183/12 against unidentified men on the complaint of victim's father. Following the recovery of the body, tension gripped the surrounding areas of Nippier and Kharadar where all major shops and markets were closed. Another two-day old bullet-riddled body of a youth was found from Lyari Naddi, Raxer Lane, in the limits of Pak Colony police station. The victim, who later identified as Mohammad Bilal Mengal, 30, son of Mohammad Khan Mengal, a resident of Al Fareed Street Garden West, was hit by single bullet on his head. SHO Abdul Moid said the victim was kidnapped and then murdered and the culprits later threw his body there. He suspected Lyari gangsters might be behind the murder. No case was registered till filing of this report.
A man Nasir,25, son of Hayat was shot dead in Jehanabad in the jurisdiction of Pak Colony police station. The victim, who was the resident of Nishtar Basti Old Subzi Mandi, was kidnapped from near his residence and his body was thrown in Pak colony area. Police shifted the body to CHK for legal formalities. Police said the victim, who hailed from Balochistan, was a student of MCS. Police suspected that he might have been murdered over personal ground. No case was registered till filing of this report.
