Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ameer Haidar Khan Hoti has said that collective efforts through mutual trust among countries of the region are essential for establishment of peace. He said that people of Afghanistan should be given right of self-determination.
He said solution to problem should be sought through dialogue and Jirgas and military operation is not the solution. He said that no nation in the world could match the Pakhtun nation on sacrifices against terrorism. He was addressing inaugural session of two-day Qaumi Aman Jirga under ANP at Nishtar Hall Peshawar on Tuesday. ANP senior leader Afzal Khan Lala chaired the Jirga.
Participants of the Jirga were ANP, PPP, PML (N), JUI (F), Mazdoor Kisan Party, Representatives of different political parties, delegations from Afghanistan, Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Balochistan and foreign countries, civil society, intellectuals, journalists and writers.
The chief minister termed holding the jirga important on critical juncture of history that gave opportunity to national leaders for mutual consultation for peace. He termed representation of different political parties in the Jirga as satisfactory and said that current situation demands collective efforts regardless of political affiliations.
He said that political parties of the province have always guided the government on situation in Malakand Division, flooding, provincial issues including net Hydel profit and other important decisions. He hoped that these customs of Pakhtun nation and province would continue in future.
He said that recommendation of peace jirga would help deciding future line of action after valuable sacrifices of Pakhtun nation. He threw light on situation and incidents after evacuation of Russia from Afghanistan. He said that all these circumstances highly inflicted tribal people and due to lack of basic facilities and needs in Fata, the extremists camouflaged centuries old system.
He termed peace and stability in Afghanistan, Fata and Pakistan as inter-linked. He said that there is a lack of mutual trust between Pakistan and Afghanistan, adding both the countries can not get rid off current challenge without mutual trust. He said that intruders are not well wishers of Pakistan and Afghanistan. He termed political and administrative reforms as per aspirations of people of Fata essential and said that military operation can not be a permanent solution to any problem. He said that the only solution to problems lies in political dialogues, struggles and holding of Jirgas.
He reiterated readiness to table talks on solution to problem for peace and brighter future in spite of massacre, devastation, injuries, brutalities and bitterness. He said that its time to unite and appealed participants of the jirga to get united for peace and brighter future setting their politics aside, adding, solution to the problem is not impossible unless we decided unity. Afzal Khan Lala, Provincial President PPPP Sardar Ali, Secretary PML (N) Rahmat Salam Khattak and President Mazdoor Kisan Party Afzal Khamosh also addressed the gathering.
