Rice prices maintained upward trend on the wholesale grain market on Tuesday in process of subdued trading, dealers said. Commenting on the lean business on the grain market, commodity experts said that the retailers were not very active as dealers at the wholesale market were looking little hesitant in commodities, specially grams ahead of the federal budget.
After budget announcement, it is most likely that trading activity may revive before the Ramazan, they said. On the rice sector, Irri-6 Sindh low type rose by 25 to Rs 3375 and the best type was higher by Rs 50 to Rs 3500, other items maintained overnight levels in process of low activity, they said.
On the seed counter, cottonseed oilcake with bag Sindh picked up Rs 100 to Rs 700-900, increase in the cottonseed prices is a little bit surprising because, cottonseed products showing downward trend these days due to fall in the cotton prices the world over, they said. On the cereal side wheat old Bardan and new both types shed Rs 15 to Rs 2590-2630, juwar, low quality was down by Rs 125 to Rs 2500 and the best quality was lower by Rs 200 to Rs 2600 due to fresh arrivals, they said. Prices were firm on the grams sector, they said.
