Activity at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 162,602 tonnes of cargo comprising 101,861 tonnes of import cargo and 60,741 tonnes of export cargo including 5,454 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 101,861 tonnes comprised of 57,746 tonnes of containerised cargo; 55 tonnes of general cargo and 44,060 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 60,741 tonnes comprised of 53,978 tonnes of containerised cargo; 555 tonnes of general cargo and 6,208 tonnes of cement. A total number of 5,454 containers include 3,366 import and 2,088 export containers were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The brake up of imported containers shows 960 of 20's and 963 of 40's of loaded while 440 of 20's and 20 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 724 of 20's and 386 of 40's loaded containers while and 218 of 20's 187 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
Four ships namely OEL Trust, APL Brisbane, MT Lahore and Forever SW with two container ships, one oil tanker and one coal carrier respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. Two vessels viz Bruno Schulte and Tampa Bay with two container ships are currently at the berths.
Six ships namely Tampa Bay, Marcampania, Hyundai Bangkok, Opal-II, CSL Ride and Abdullatif-S with five container ships and one cement carrier sailed out to sea on Tuesday, while three ships namely De Shan, Rochester Castle and Zulal with two general cargo ships and one cement carrier are expected to sail on Wednesday.
Three vessels viz Hellen, UBC Cyprus and BBC Abgelia with one ethanol ship, one cement carrier and one general cargo ship respectively due to arrive on Tuesday, while five vessels viz Water Breeze, Berthea, Hellen, Cap Verde, St. Jerneborg and King Fortune with one naphtha ship, one ethanol ship, one container ship, one project cargo ship and one general cargo ship respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 52,001 tonnes includes 4,750 tonnes of furnace oil; 2,500 tonnes of edible oil and 44,751 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo includes 2,751 tonnes of containerised cargo. Three ships namely CV Tampa Bay, CV CMA CGM Eiffel and MT STX Knight with containers and chemicals sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while another ship namely MT EMA Querida edible oil is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of three vessels namely CV CMA CGM Eiffel, MT STX Knight and MT EMA Querida are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, chemicals and edible oil respectively during last 24 hours. As many as five ships CMA CGM Mozart, ER Perth, Nedlloyd Drake, Bow Pride and Al Mukhtara with containers, edible oil and furnace oil respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.
A total number of five vessels viz CV CMA CGM Mozart, CV ER Perth, CV Nedlloyd Drake, MT Bow Pride and MT Al Mukhtara with containers, edible oil and furnace oil respectively are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Tuesday.
